12th Circuit LEN Conducts Traffic Safety Check Points

The 12th Circuit Law Enforcement Network conducted a traffic safety checkpoint on Friday, November 14, 2014 on Highway 41 South at the intersection of Bluff Road and Old Stage Road in Marion County beginning at approximately 8:00 PM and concluding at approximately 1:00 AM. The checkpoint resulted in the following charges:


Child Restraint Violation - 1
ABC Violation - 1
Driving Under the Influence - 2
Open Container Violation - 2
Driver’s License Violation - 3
Driving Under Suspension - 2
Vehicle License Violation - 2
Possession of Marijuana - 3
Fugitive Arrest - 1

During the Operation, 201 vehicles were encountered. Three suspects were arrested.

The 12th Circuit Law Enforcement Network consists of all law enforcement agencies in Florence and Marion Counties, including state agencies and State Constables. 53 officers participate in this operation.

The focus of the traffic safety checkpoints is the prevention of motor vehicle accidents and the detection and enforcement of motor vehicle violations, including driving under the influence. For the fourth year in a row, the Florence County Sheriff’s Office is the host agency for LEN operations, which is sponsored through the South Carolina Department of Public Safety. Additional operations during the month of November are possible.
