FLORENCE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
AUGUST 5, 2015

SUBJECT: Virgil Frederick Earp, age 27, of 210 Carver Street, Sumter, SC 29150 was arrested by deputies with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office on August 5, 2015 and charged with Trafficking in Heroin (S.C. Code Section 44-53-370(e)(3)) and Trafficking in Cocaine (S.C. Code Section 44-52-370(e)(2)).

NARRATIVE: Deputies with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office arrested Virgil Frederick Earp on August 5, 2015 and charged him with Trafficking in Heroin and Trafficking in Cocaine. According to deputies, earlier today Earp was in a parked vehicle at a convenience store located 1832 West Lucus Street in Florence, SC when he was observed by an undercover narcotics investigator rolling a marijuana cigarette. When the investigator approached the vehicle, Earp is alleged to have accelerated his vehicle, colliding with the investigator’s vehicle and running his vehicle into the convenience store. Incident to the arrest, Earp was allegedly found to possess in excess of 10 grams of heroin and in excess of 400 grams of powder cocaine. A passenger in the vehicle was transported to an area hospital where he was treated for minor injuries. The investigation into this incident is ongoing and additional charges are possible.

Earp is being held at the Florence County Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
