FCSO ARRESTS TWO IN CONNECTION TO HOFFMEYER ROAD ROBBERY

SUBJECT:Matthew Franks Thomas, age 23, of 716 West Marion Street, Florence, SC 29505 was arrested by Deputies with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office on December 22, 2013 and charged with Armed Robbery (S.C. Code Section 16-11-330(A)). See FCSO Booking Website for additional details.
NARRATIVE:Deputies with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office arrested two in connection with an early morning armed robbery on Sunday, December 22, 2013. Investigators charged Rayquan Lamonte Taylor and Matthew Franks Thomas with Armed Robbery in connection with the robbery of a convenience store located at 2301 Hoffmeyer Road in Florence. According to Investigators, the two men entered the store around 02:30 AM wearing masks and demanding money from the store clerk at gunpoint. After making away with an undetermined amount of money and merchandise, the two suspects fled the scene. A short time later, with the assistance of the Florence Police Department, FCSO Tracking Canines tracked the suspects to a nearby apartment where the suspects were arrested and stolen items were recovered.
Under South Carolina law, Armed Robbery is a felony punishable by no less than 10 years nor more than 30 years in prison.
Taylor and Thomas are being held at the Florence County Detention Center on $30,000.00 surety bonds. Thomas is also being held on a Magistrates Court bench warrant.
