County Employee Charged with Embezzlement of Public Funds
SUBJECT:Aneesa Giles, age 29, of 1349-H, Brittany Drive, Florence, SC 29501 was arrested by Investigators with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office on January 10, 2014 and charged with Embezzlement of Public Funds (Value $10,000.00 or more)(S.C. NARRATIVE:Aneesa Giles was arrested by Investigators with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office on January 10, 2014 and charged with Embezzlement of Public Funds. According to Investigators, Giles was an employee of Florence County Economic Development and was issued a Florence County credit card for authorized business expenses. Investigators allege that Giles used the credit card for unauthorized personal expenses in excess of $10,000.00.
Under South Carolina law, Embezzlement of Public Funds is a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a fine in the discretion of the court. Giles was released from the Florence County Detention Center on January 11, 2014 after posting a $1500.00 bond.
