12TH CIRCUIT LEN CONDUCTS SAFETY CHECKPOINTS
The Twelfth Circuit Law Enforcement Network conducted two Traffic Safety Checkpoints in Florence County on Friday, February 7, 2014. The first operation took place at the intersection of East National Cemetery Road and South McCurdy Road near Florence beginning at approximately 8:00 PM. During this operation 278 vehicles were encountered. A second operation was located at the intersection of Freedom Boulevard and Rowland McLaughlin Boulevard. This operation began at approximately 10:30 PM and 230 vehicles were encountered.
As a result of the operations, the following violations were noted:
- Driving Under the Influence - 3
- Open Container Violation - 4
- Changing Lanes Unlawfully - 2
- Child Restraint Violation - 4
- Driver’s License Violation - 4
- Driving Under Suspension - 10
- Possession of Marijuana - 3
In addition to the above, 5 arrests were made, including one fugitive wanted from Sumter County for burglary and kidnapping.
The 12th Circuit Law Enforcement Network is comprised of all law enforcement agencies in Florence and Marion Counties including State Constables, and is sponsored by the South Carolina Department of Public Safety. For the fourth year in a row, the Florence County Sheriff’s Office is the host agency for Network operations.
