FCSO ARRESTS SUSPECT IN SEXUAL ASSAULT CASES
SUBJECT: Ronnie Demetruis Durant, age 33, of 1680 S. Center Road, Darlington, SC 29532 was arrested by Investigators with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office on February 6, 2020 and charged with four counts of Armed Robbery (S.C. Code Ann. 16-11-330(A)), one count of Kidnapping (S.C. Code 16-03-910) and two counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct (first degree) (S.C. Code Ann. 16-03-652). NARRATIVE: On Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at approximately 2:00 AM FCSO deputies responded to a call on Clement Street, Florence, SC of a kidnapping and armed robbery. According to the victim, a suspect she met online robbed her at gunpoint, forced her to have sexual intercourse and made her drive to multiple locations where the suspect robbed others of money and illegal narcotics.
Following an extensive investigation, Investigators charged Ronnie Demetruis Durant with four counts of Armed Robbery, one count of Kidnapping and two counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct. Florence County Sheriff’s Office Warrants Division and US Marshals Service Task Force arrested Durant on Thursday, February 6, 2020. The investigation into this incident led to the discovery of an earlier sexual assault victim of the Durant on February 4, 2020.
Durant is being held at the Florence County Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
