FCSO INVESTIGATORS ARREST FORGERY SUSPECT
SUBJECT: Beverly R. Steele, age 46, of 1409 Jackson Avenue, Florence, SC 29501 arrested by FCSO Investigators on May 21, 2020 and charged with sixty-six (66) counts of Forgery (value less than $10,000.00)(S.C. Code Ann. 16-13-010(A)). See FCSO Booking Website for additional information.
NARRATIVE: Investigators with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office arrested Beverly R. Steele on May 21, 2020 and charged her with 66 counts of Forgery. According to Investigators, between the dates of March 9, 2018 and March 2, 2020, Steele is alleged to have removed numerous checks from the victim’s residence and afterward presented sixty-six (66) checks for proceeds in varying amounts after forging the victim’s signiture. The total amount of checks written by Steele on the victim’s account is approximately $45,707.00.
Under South Carolina law, Forgery, (value less than $10,000.00) is a felony punishable by 5 years in prison of a fine in the discretion of the court. Steele was released from the Florence County Sheriff’s Office on May 21, 2020 on a personal recognizance bond.
