At a Press Conference earlier today, Sheriff TJ Joye announced the establishment of the Florence County Sheriff's Office Foundation in partnership with the Eastern Carolina Community Foundation. FCSO Foundation funds will be used to provide life-saving equipment such as ballistic vests, K-9s and specialized training not always available through the budgetary process to help deputies perform their duties better, safer and more efficiently. Funds can also be used to support the families of deputies killed or wounded in the line of duty, or when experiencing a particular family hardship.
The FCSO Foundation makes it possible for anyone to make a tax deductible donation to the Eastern Carolina Community Foundation on behalf of the FCSO Foundation or directly to the FCSO Foundation. The FCSO Foundation has already received approximately $13,000.00 in donations from Florence County citizens. In the near future, a link on the FCSO website will provide details on how to make a contribution to the Foundation, including an online credit card option.
Sheriff Joye has appointed a FCSO Foundation Advisory Board to receive requests for expenditures and to provide guidance and recommendations to the Eastern Carolina Community foundation for the expenditures of Foundation funds. Members of the Foundation Advisor Board are Rocky Pearce, Katie Godwin, Rick Saunders, Anna Franks, FCSO Chief Deputy Tommy Sullivan and FCSO General Counsel Mike Nunn.
Anyone interested in making a tax deductible contribution to the FCSO Foundation can contact Major Mike Nunn at (843) 665-2121, ext. 386.
