Ethan Harley Gainey was arrested by deputies with the Florence County Sheriffs Office earlier today and charged with Failure to Stop for Blue Light, with Great Bodily Injury. According to deputies, on July 3, 2021 Gainey is alleged to have led FCSO deputies on a high speed pursuit at speeds over 100 miles per hour on U.S. Highway 52 south of Florence. A Florence County Deputy was seriously injured during the pursuit and remains in an area hospital.
Under South Carolina law Failure to Stop for a Blue Light, with Great Bodily Injury is a felony punishable by up to ten (10) years in prison.
Gainey was released from the Florence County Detention Center earlier today on a $5000.00 surety bond.
