Memorial Ride To Honor Deputy Joseph Antwine
Carolina Brotherhood, a support group of firefighters and police officers from North and South Carolina are biking 500 miles from Raleigh, NC to Charleston, SC in five days to honor fallen officers. As a part of their journey, 28 bikers in the Brotherhood will honor the memory of Florence County Sheriff’s Deputy Joseph Antwine at a ceremony Friday, August 8, 2014 which will be held at approximately 3:00 PM at the Lake City Fire Department located at 223 North Acline Street in Lake City, SC. Following this ceremony, the Brotherhood will spend the night at the Lake City Fire Department and will continue on their trek to honor fallen officers in Charleston, SC on Saturday. Deputy Antwine died in the on November 29, 2013 from injuries sustained while responding to an emergency call near Pamplico, SC.
The Brotherhood is honoring ten public safety first responders who lost their lives in the line of duty last year in North and South Carolina in 2013. The journey began on Monday in Raleigh, NC and will conclude in Charleston, SC on Saturday. The bikers are expected to arrive in Florence County tomorrow at approximately 1:00 PM by way of U.S. Highway 378 from Marion County and should arrive at the Lake City Fire Department at approximately 2:30 PM
