FCSO MANHUNT ENDS SUCCESSFULLY
SUBJECT:Larry Coles, age 31, of 532 E. Hwy 378, Johnsonville, SC was arrested by Deputies with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office on August 30, 2014 and charged with Burglary (Second Degree) (S.C. Code Section 16-11-312) and Simple Larceny (S.C. Code Section 16-13-30(A)). See FCSO Booking Website for additional information.
NARRATIVE: A manhunt in the Pamplico Highway and U.S. Highway 378 area ended today with the location of the suspect. FCSO Deputies attempted a traffic stop yesterday morning on a vehicle on Pamplico Highway in which Larry Coles was a passenger. When the vehicle came to a stop, Coles fled on foot into a heavily wooded area near Salem Road. Coles was known to be a person of interest sought for questioning in the disappearance of a missing person from Johnsonville, SC.
An intensive manhunt began yesterday morning in the area, and ended when Coles was discovered hiding in a dwelling on E. Highway 378 near Shady Lane near Kingsburg just after noon today. He was taken into custody without incident. Coles is currently charged with one count of Burglary (Second Degree) and Simple Larceny. In addition, he is wanted on an arrest warrant out of Georgetown County. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are possible.
In addition to FCSO deputies, FCSO Tracking Team, FCSO SWAT and PACE, units from the Johnsonville Police Department, Pamplico Police Department, South Carolina Highway Patrol, Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office Tracking Team and SLED with its helicopter and tracking team assisted in the manhunt.
